So I put in my first 4 hours with Batman this evening, and I streamed it. You can watch the video here.

I’m enjoying it so far, the side quests are engaging the combat is still stellar although it feels like there is a lot more too it and I’m sure it’ll be great once I get used to the controls but I’m not using half of the new moves yet, I think they were unlocked far too early.

Oh Pro Tip, do the AR missions first, the ability it unlocks helps greatly getting around the city… honestly do this as soon as they unlock.

Well, lets talk about what I’ve been playing… I honestly haven’t finished a game in forever.

First the staples

Back on the World of Warcraft… nothing has changed but it’s still a pretty good time sink… 4/7 progression in firelands for the guild, having fun hangin’ out with the guildies.

Starcraft 2, I’ve been laddering more and I think I’ve gotten over my anxieties and I’ve been having a ton of fun with it… I’m a top half gold leaguer this season, I feel like this is a better place for me than that Platinum placement I got last season that I was scared as shit to play in for fear of demotion.

I played a bunch of Dead Island, it’s definitely more fun than it is good, a lot more fun actually. Dismembering zombies is quite rewarding, despite all of it’s flaws and stupid quests/story lines. If you’re the kind of person who can have fun with a game just because it’s fun then you’ll likely have a great time with this. If not check it out in the sale bin when it comes around, it’s definitely worth the budget price it will inevitably be dropped to. On consoles anyway, I wouldn’t want to play the thing without the analog controls.

Disgaea 4… quirky turn based strategy game with enough strategic elements to make it fun and challenging, they don’t make games like this anymore. TBS has gone the way of walking up to the bad guy and killing it, then repeat. It’s nice to see that there is some planning required here. There are a ton of sub-systems to keep tinkerers super busy, and the level 9999 cap means there is lots to do! The story is as per usual for the Disgaea series, totally off the wall, but I’m kind of surprised to see some very obvious political statements in there… you can definitely ignore them and just take what they’re saying for face value, but I definitely had some ‘wow…’ moments.

In other news, It’s my birthday tomorrow and for my birthday I’m upgrading my gaming PC, I’m an intel guy so I’m going i7-2600k, ASUS board, 16gb ram, and likely some brand of crossfire graphics setup, likely to be put together in the next few weeks. Just in time for Rage, Battlefield 3, SW:TOR, and diablo 3. I’m pretty excited about all of these.

I’ll try to write y’all more!

Portal 2 is out today, and I’m going to be all over it. If you’ve been following the blog, you know ps3 is my go to platform, but I generally prefer the digital download route of acquiring games. Portal 2 has created a big dilemma for me but I eventually settled on going out and getting the PS3 version, since it comes with a steam copy anyway, it would be silly of me not too.

I didn’t even finish the original portal in fact I was quite late to that game in general, and it did feel dated when I did get around to it. I loved the concept and the humor though in the parts I did see. Maybe I’ll hammer my way through it today before I get into the sequel.

I will be passing on Mortal Kombat as tempted as I am, fighting games just aren’t fun if you don’t have a rival and I really don’t have one at this point as I mentioned in my Tekken and Super Street Fighter IV articles.
