So I’ve taken in the Skate 3 demo 3 or 4 times on its 30 minute timer, and every time I do I get more and more excited for the full game. The demo takes place in a sectioned off area of the University district and has a lot of benches, stairs, other gaps to play on. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a little pool or something to play in, but it is a demo after all. My session tonight was mostly about getting the hang of underflips and darkslides, 2 of the new trick (I suppose trick-sets would be more appropriate), they make sense control-wise which I appreciate. I’m not a huge fan of the animations coming out of the darkslides, it seems like the animation itself is too quick, and you can’t really see what is happening as well as you can other tricks.
Below is a video I took of a fun little gap I found with the help of the object dropper to bring in a little ramp.
Forgive the camera work, the “Advanced” cameras were locked out in the demo so I didn’t get to give it the white glove treatment which is too bad because that tree is really in the way, If I had the cameras I probably could have worked around them. Oh well, will remember this spot for release day.
Edit: And this is why I love this game…
I felt the need to develop this line a little more… so here is the improved version:
I just stuck with the follow cam because I wasn’t totally happy with the tricks, the darkslide should have been earlier… I wanted to throw in a flat land underflip of some kind before heading into the bank, and maybe a manuel out or something. I will no doubt be perfecting this tonight.
Edit 2: Alright maybe not perfect..
Yea, not perfect at all, but I did get a little bit of bullshit..
And a neat little grind
