Am I the only one who doesn’t get the media hype behind this game?

I understand Tim Schafer has been involved in a bunch of really good games (Secret of Monkey Island and Psychonauts first and foremost), games that are known less for the game, (most of which were not very innovative) and more for their charm. It’s clear to me that this will need to be the case here if this game is going to be successful this time of year. Set in a virtually unexplored world inspired by metal album covers, and all the gore and vulgarity that comes with such an environment, it may be odd to describe this place as charming, but I think it will be. From what I could tell from the demo, Jack Black fills the role perfectly (no surprise), and the metal sound track is going to be awesome. The intro movie and a couple of the lines of dialog during the action, did get a couple chuckles out of me, but what I played for a game was a simple 2 button (ranged, melee) brawler, with a couple interesting addins to mix up the gameplay. From the interviews it seems like there will be a progressing combo system for your attacks and what not, but I’m going to assume this won’t be Ninja Gaiden in that regard. Beyond that, if you’ve played Batman: Arkham Asylum, which I’m sure you have, the clever combat system RockSteady introduced there will make this game feel like a mindless button masher.

I think it goes without saying, I’m going to pass on buying this one, too many good games with higher replay value in the very short term. It does however sound like it’d be fun for a weekend as a rental or out of the bargain bin. Am I seriously alone on this? By all means; if I’ve missed something that should put this game on my list, please share, I’m curious to get more opinions on this.
